About

Libby McIntosh found illustration during isolation, having just moved to Guernsey. Transfixed by sea creatures foraged for the dinner table by her scuba diving boyfriend, she found a new connection to the diverse island whilst being stuck indoors. Lobsters and scallops quickly became everyday objects and a fascination of the sea and its life, grew.

Following the popularity of her sea-life collection, she looked further afield for more bright and vibrant inspiration. Her first solo exhibit of 2023 ‘Some Like It Hot’ focussed on the more tropical side of the animal kingdom, where inspiration began at Durrell, in Jersey. A rainy trip allowed her the unique opportunity to view gorillas and orangutang up close, inside, as they grouped for warmth against the glass.

Using graphic markers to build depth and tone, she creates a unique composition to express her love and wonder for the animals she endeavours to recreate.

Artwork is available as framed originals. Certain collections are also transferred to a range of different products including bone china mugs, tea towels, prints and coasters.
